Since the first edition of the PETTIFORD FAMILY TREE book in 1983, the research of the Pettiford branch from Edmund and Sarah has located their descendants in almost every state in the union. The latest edition of the book included the family outline of the descendants of Edmund and Sarah (Carter) Pettiford of Granville, North Carolina and the descendants of John and Loucie (Hodelson) Weaver. Edmund and Sarah were the parents of 19 children 13 of them lived to adulthood. Edmund and some of his children migrated west around 1840’s along with several other family members, including the Weaver family, and settled in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Some even went as far west as Missouri and Kansas. This latest edition includes the descendant’s outlines from Edmund sons Ransom and Willis Pettiford and include new pictures and stories. Edmund’s son Ransom stayed in North Carolina, in Wake County, but his son Enoch would find his freedom in Grand Rapids Michigan working on the Railroad and was interviewed by the local paper on what it was like living as a free person of color in North Carolina before the Civil War. This book makes a nice gift or keepsake for your family.
